Catrice Illuminating Serum Primer Review

These are my honest thoughts of Catrice Illuminating Serum Primer.

So today I tried to use this primer under my Loreal Infallible 24hr foundation & I was hoping that it would work like a miracle albeit it's too good to be true considering that the price is dirt cheap. However, I was actually disappointed by the fact that my skin couldn't take it. What did I expect anyway? Not even after 5 minutes. Sad.

It is true- well, what people said about how your face will glow and shine and all because mine actually did- at a price. At first I felt itchy around my nose area and it was getting bad that I had to wash off my makeup less than an hour later. Sad.

Not to mention that it smells really bad like a bug (dalam bahasa melayu orang panggil kumbang tahi but in all seriousness I don't know if the bug is called kumbang tahi lol). Do you know that there's a flying bug that releases a horrible smell once it decided to rest on you? Or your stuff? That's. The. Exact. Smell. Sad. Again.

I'll pass. I believe that this is a good primer to some but definitely it's not for me. Sorry.

Maybelline FIT ME MATTE + PORELESS Foundation REVIEW

FIT ME MATTE + PORELESS Foundation.

I've always wanted to try this and then when I saw Malaysian drugstores started to put it on their shelves I couldn't be more estatic! The reason why I didn't buy this online is because I don't really want to spend extra USD18+++ to ship out flammable/ORM-D item. I have no idea why most of Maybelline or Loreal stuff are flammable- even their mascara.

I bought mine in the shade 235 which is a little darker than my normal foundation shades. I've also been told that 230 is the perfect shade for NC35 but that particular shade wasn't available at my local drugstores at that time. I tried to swatch 220 but it looked.. off.

Guardian has it on sales for RM44+ instead of RM49.

My thoughts on the foundation:

1. Scent: No noticable scent or weird smell. Just your normal, average foundation smell.

2. Consistency - The texture is thick, BUT really smooth & lightweight. It really doesn't feel like I'm wearing any foundation at all.

3. Coverage - The foundation is matte, blendable, and it gives a buildable medium-to-full coverage that is perfect for daily use.

4. Verdict - I am really impressed with this foundation after using it for a few days. I wasn't expecting much but it does exceed my expectation! 10 points to Maybelline! It provides a little to no oxidation (although I am not sure if it will on your skin but it didn't on mine, different skin = different reaction) It also hides my imperfection really well. It does not accentuate my dry patches or give me a very 'matte' or powdery look despite the matte formula. I still can powder my face without worrying that I would look overly mattified. It also does a great job in hiding my fine lines & pigmentation- although I still have to dab a concealer to cover some of them but I see 'less texture' on my face. Yes. Betul. I had some outdoor errands to run few days ago and the foundation stayed on around 7 hours despite the heat. Not bad. The only thing that I hate is the shade. 235 buat i nampak merah. 😂

I really recommend this foundation if you have oily skin. ;) #maybellinefitmemalaysia

MILANI Conceal and Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer on Acne & Textured Skin REVIEW

MILANI Conceal and Perfect 2-in-1 Foundation and Concealer.

This foundation is not available in Malaysia therefore you will have to order from IG shops or personal shoppers. It's widely available on Walgreens, Ikatehouse, Target etc etc and is priced around USD10. I bought it in the shade of 05 Warm Beige (NC35 & above). My thoughts on this foundation?

1. Scent - Smells wonderful! The best scented foundation I've ever encountered. The scent 'hypnotized' me- I was under impression that this foundation is going to be a good one because of the smell ALONE.

2. Consistency - Very creamy, SUPER THICK (probably because it's a concealer too) its overwhelming.

3. Coverage - Medium, buildable to full coverage. A little goes a long way. IMO best applied with sponges, avoid
application with brushes if you do not want to look cakey. Little to no oxidation.

4. Verdict - At first I though I would love the foundation however after a few tries, I've shelved it inside my drawer. Why? Although this foundation manages to cover my redness and pigmentation, it overly accentuates my bumps and acne scars more than any other foundation I've used. I tried to tone it down a little but it would just highlight my fine lines, small bumps and I did not like what I see. (See picture 2 for inverted before & after comparison). Another reason why I hate this foundation- it's cakey, cakey & cakey. Although it has a semi-matte finish I would find it too cakey for me even with a thin layer of loose powder on. Shame because the foundation is actually very lightweight, feels comfortable and breathable on my skin. I did not experience any breakout too. 💔💔

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation on Acne Skin REVIEW

Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation.

I really wanted to try this foundation when they first came out at Malaysian drugstores but I couldn't seem to find my perfect shade. I went to the stores to swatch them but I still couldn't make up my mind! After I went back and forth with no 60 & 70, I bought no 60 which perfectly matches me. Sandy Beige is a light medium yellow base tone that will suit NC30 - NC35 (I am NC35 but I think I've became fairer IDK lol). Comes in a small tube, 30ml and retails around RM30++. The foundation claims to deliver seamless, buildable coverage, hydrates skin, shine free, spot free, even and healthy looking face which could stay on up to 12 hours of use. Lets continue with the review:

1. Scent - It has no scent.

2. Consistency - It has a gel whipped velvety texture, which makes it very easy to blend especially when using the fingers. I found that application with a brush would waste the product away. It's very lightweight too.

3. Coverage - Medium, buildable but couldn't cover heavy pigmentation. It covers my skin up to 3 hours max with a setting powder on. No apparent oxidation.

4. Verdict - I'm not a fan. It might be because my skin was acting up when I tried it for the first time..so I'm kind of really on fence with this foundation. It applies really nicely on my skin, does not look cakey and somehow manages 'fill in' the holes and pores on my face so I'd get a very seamless looking coverage. EXCEPT, it does not go well on my dry patches (see third picture). My face was flaring with pimples and new scars so it looked very patchy on those areas.

I know that this foundation is one of those 'FOR-PERFECT-SKIN-DAY-USE-ONLY'. Obviously, I'm not looking for that. I want something that I could use on daily basis regardless of how my skin would turn up that day so sadly, no matter how much I tried to love it, this foundation is not really for me. 💔

LA GIRL PRO Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation on Acne Skin REVIEW

LA GIRL PRO Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation.

I've promised to start a new drugstore foundation series, and why not start with my most favorite drugstore foundation to date- LA GIRL PRO Coverage HD Long Wear Illuminating Liquid Foundation! I bought it in shade Nude Biege which thankfully matches my skin so well (my other equilavent foundation shades are MAC NC35, Estee Lauder Tawny) for USD7.99 from Ikatehouse.com. You can get this from a lot of IGs that do pre-orders for RM48 - RM80. It contains 28ml which is a little less than our regular 30ml foundation, albeit still affordable.

Claims to provide seamless results of each use, weightless hydrating formula, camera friendly (indeed) that lasts, I would say I agree to most of the claims but one.

Let's dive a little further:

1. Scent - No apparent chemical or irritating scent, but has a faint soapy scent thus kindly take note if you are sensitive to fragranced cosmetics as it would irritate your skin. However, the scent is not as strong as Milani foundation.

2. Consistency - Lightweight and VERY liquidy. Looks deceiving at first but one full pump manages to cover half of my face! (Swipe to see another pic). It provides instant luminosity and if you're looking for a dewy finish foundation, this is perfect for you.

3. Coverage - The coverage is buildable from medium to full coverage. It doesn't feel heavy and it layers like a second skin onto my problematic area. I don't see any flakiness on my dry spots either which is awesome.

4. VERDICT - I really love this foundation except, I do feel that this foundation is not meant for oily skin. I have to use a mattifying primer or loose powder underneath or otherwise it would slip away after 1 or 2 hours of use. I also do not experience any breakout with this foundation. It's NOT EVEN long wearing on me, it probably just stayed on for maximum of 3 to 4 hours without blotting. I thoroughly enjoy looking like I have a flawless skin even just for a little while. I couldn't stop my hands from reaching for this foundation.

Will I repurchase this? A BIG yes.

Maybelline The Magnum Barbie & The Falsies Push Up Drama REVIEW

A series of posting on my Instagram.

I've tried two mascaras from Maybelline, The Magnum Barbie & The Falsies Push Up Drama. The winner of these two is Falsies Push Up Drama!

COMPARISON

1.Application - Push Up Drama is easier to apply on my light Asian eyelashes as the wand is smaller, thinner, straigher than Barbie. Barbie has a flat, fuller and curvier wand. Push Up Drama short rubber bristles (similar to Extreme Essence Mascara) are shaped like a cup, one spot has one bristle, placed separately from the others while Barbie curvy wand's fiber bristles are grouped together, placed on a spot near to each other thus it could get really messy if I accidentally pump extra product out of the tube. I have no idea if you guys can understand this lol.

2. Consistency - Push Up Drama dries a little longer than Barbie, allows me to reapply coats for heavier look without having to worry it would dry before I could work it on my lashes. Barbie? Dries quicker but one application is enough since the formula is thicker than the Push Up Drama.

3. Finish - My lashes are separated and curled nicely with Push Up probably because of the gap of its bristles, however it would not volumnize my eyelashes with one coat. More than one coat of application is needed for voluminizing effect. Also be careful, it can get clumpy if you wear it more than what your lashes need. Barbie does wonder on this department but extra coats could get my lashes clumpier. No problem if you love spidery eyelashes though. However, Barbie is more comfortable to wear.

4. Longevity - Push Up Drama wins! Stays on like a glue, under eye stains-free. Barbie turns me into a panda.

5. Removal - Push Up Drama is very very very hard to remove as compared to Barbie.. Your normal everyday micellar water or balm cleanser wont be helpful.

6. Price - RM39.90 for Push Up Drama and RM25 - RM35.90 for Barbie.

Queen Helene Mint Julep/Mud Pack Masque/Cocoa Butter Scrub/Oatmeal & Honey/Nubian Heritage African Black Soap & Aztec Healing Clay Review

These are my brief thoughts on a few drugstore products that I have used since last year. Please note that what works on me might not work on you. I have an extremely oily skin and sometimes it gets dehydrated.

1. Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque.
- This is meant for oily and acne prone skin so this works like a charm on me! My skin freshens up everytime I use this mask but it didn't do much on my active acne. Cheap, smells like a minty toothpaste, a bit drier than Mud Pack Masque but it didn't irritate or dry my skin. I really recommend this to people with extremely oily skin.

2. Queen Helene Mud Pack Masque.
- Yesssss I totally recommend this on acne prone skin! I've used this as an overnight acne fix whenever I saw a new 'bump' starting to appear. Usually I would leave it until morning (although I know I'm not supposed to do that) and the bumps usually subsided. Sadly mine has expired and I didn't plan on restocking yet since I bought another mud mask to try.

3. Queen Helene Cocoa Butter Scrub.
- This is meant for extremely dry skin so my skin tends to produce extra oil and I would feel greasy so yes, not recommended for oily skin. I bought it just because it's a cocoa based product lol.

4. Queen Helene Oatmeal & Honey Scrub - Did what they're suppose to do, cleanse, remove dead skin and didn't dry my skin. Just your average skincare product.

5. Nubian Heritage African Black Soap.
- This soap is AMAZING. It controls my acne but of course I tend to get bored and would find other facial cleanser/soaps to try but I found myself keep coming back to this as a damage control lol. My whole family use this- Once, I used this to calm my daughter's eczema.

6. Aztec Healing Clay.
- Similar to Queen Helene Mud Pack Masque but a lil bit tedious/messy to use. It tightens my skin, I could not use it for more than 30 minutes. One bottle has a LOT of products and one tablespoon is enough to cover your whole face and it's soooo hard to take them off. I would use this mask on my body if I get bitten by bugs as it helps to sooth the irritation- FYI I have a very sensitive skin, bugs and mosquitoe bites gets inflammed infact sometimes they got as big as 50 cents coin

TARTE 2016 HOLIDAY COLOR WHEEL BLUSHER PALETTE REVIEW

Hi folks!

Usually I will just reposting whatever I posted on my Instagram feed in my blog so they would feel more organized here. However this will be on of the original reviews on my blog since I have not review this palette yet and I hope it's not too late! :)

I have been wanting Tarte blusher palette more than anything and I have not had any luck last year with their four pans holiday palette. When I saw that they were releasing the 10 pan palette, I was more than excited. I could not wait to get my hands on the Tarte Holiday Color Wheel Blusher Palette. The fact that they are actually made in China instead of USA did not deter me from buying so I bought it almost instantly when Sephora opened a preview sale for black card member. The Tarte Color Wheel Palette is priced at RM195 (USD 44++) here in Malaysia.

The packaging is nothing like previous rectangular holiday palette, it is round without mirror. They pans are separated with a flimsy plastic separator but it can be removed if you want to, no harm in that I guess?

The Tarte Holiday Color Wheel Blusher Palette contains 8 deluxe size of blushers and 2 deluxe size of highlighters.

Deluxe size is 2.38g/0.084oz per pan while the regular sized blushers pan is 5.6g/0.19oz) per pan (RM122 in Sephora Malaysia). This is a bargain since like buying 5 regular sized blusher pans!

RM122 x 5 pans = RM610
You will save : RM610 - RM195 = RM415!

The top of the palette contains 'warm' side of the blushers (my favorite is mod) & the bottom side is catered to cool tones which I rarely get a chance to use.

Some of the blushers a pigmented and easy to blend however the highlighters are a bit stiff especially Crafty (see bottom side). The darker shades are actually pigmented but sadly non of them would suit my medium skin tone.  Most of them are matte with exception of Culture (top) & Concept (bottom).

I am not sure if the palette is removable/depotable since I have not seen or read any reviews regarding that.

Do I think this Tarte Holiday Color Wheel Blusher Palette is worth to purchase?

Totally yes! :)

HOW TO DETECT FAKE MORPHE PALETTE

This is series of my Instagram post, reposted on my blog :)

How to Detect Fake Morphe?

I received these pictures from one of my customers, the fake palette (marked as authentic) is sold at Lazada for RM129.

Beware of fake cosmetics since they ARE hazardous to your health/skin as we do not know what are the ingredients used in fake cosmetics. For God sake they could contain ammonia, lead or rat piss..and you- would unknowingly smear them all over your face.....well no, thank you. Ask yourselves is it really worth it risking your lives over a cheap imitation? 😫

Find out if your Morphe is fake:

1. The box is slimmer/thinner than the authentic one.

2. 'M' on the box is Red, while 'orphe' is white. (Authentic one is a little greyish)

3. No barcode on the box. Just a round sticker. (For authentic ones, it should be at the back and bottom right of the box. Round sticker is on the back of the palette)

4. The box is flimsy while the authentic one is sturdy.

5. The clasp of the palette should NOT look like the picture!

6. The inside of the fake box opening should NOT face you.

7. Sold at the fraction of the authentic price. Please consider shipping cost, tax. etc etc.
