Too Faced Cocoa Contour Kit Review

It's here! OMG.

I am not sure what I'm thinking but I couldn't resist.

They smell like chocolate because they are made from cocoa powder (obviously). Heard all good stuff about their eyeshadow palette but I'm no eyeshadow junkie.

My local Sephora doesn't stock them so I had to order from a personal shopper.
I am pretty sure that I am not gonna use the brush. Or even using the contour powder ATM. Let me just sit back in awe and drool over this first....

AND.......

I lied when I said I don't want to use this kit lol... So here's my honest review of Too Faced's Cocoa Contour kit!

Actually, contouring and highlighting are pretty new to me. Previously I didn't even know about their existence and I sort of knew when I started getting serious into my business. I've gotten to know a lot of good contouring and highlighting kits and I wanted to try them myself. I came across this countouring kit while browsing #Sephoramy instagram feed.

So I managed to buy this for RM126 with 15% discounts plus the shipping cost. Told you earlier that my local Sephora doesn't stock them so I had to get help from a personal shopper. They didn't even stock The Book of Bronzers! Sad.

Cocoa Contour kit comes with 2 contouring shades (Medium Cocoa/Dark Cocoa), 2 highlighting shades (Light Cocoa/Pop of Light) and one small angled kabuki brush.

Medium Cocoa and Dark Cocoa are matte finish. They're very smooth and creamy so they glide on smoothly on my face and don't accentuate my pit scars. I can say the same to its Light Cocoa. It applies evenly onto my skin and it works as a setting powder to my under-eye concealer. They fill my under-eye lines and set up flawlessly onto my skin. However I am quite disappointed with Pop of Light, its shimmering highlighter. Honestly it's not pigmented and I don't like the glitter at all. They scattered everywhere on my face when I tried to put them on. I know that Pop of Light is not that great from the reviews I've read but I didn't know that it would be this disappointing. You could see that I couldn't capture the swatch except for the glitters. I might use them if I wanna feel like a disco ball. Yes, I know we all have that moment sometimes.

I have no problem using Light Cocoa as a highlighter but for the contouring shades... I feel like Medium Cocoa complements my skin tone since Dark Cocoa turns out too dark on my face. I tried to swatch Dark Cocoa to the sides of my nose and they looked off, I guess Dark Cocoa would be suitable for people with darker complexion or if you want to do a dramatic contouring. I prefer to look natural yet perfectly contoured.

Overall, I still like them a lot!

Verdict:

Pros:
✔3 Pigmented shades.
✔Smooth and Creamy.
✔Vegan.
✔Smell like chocolate!
✔Stay on 5-6 hours.

✔Does not accentuate my pit scars.

Cons:
❌ Shade of Pop of Light is disappointing.

BH Cosmetics BH Studio Pro HD Foundation Review Acne Skin

Hello!

Today I am going to review a new foundation by BH Cosmetics, BH Studio Pro HD Foundation. I was hesitating to try this foundation at first since I have a very sensitive and acne-prone skin, Also this foundation is still new so the lack of reviews and stuff made me feel that way. I have searched and watched a few videos on Youtube and they aren't that many either. However I decided to try this despite the lack of testimony. I was just telling myself that I could be one of the early reviewers. lol.

So here it is!

I bought them on BH Cosmetics website for USD 8 (approximately RM40 without postage), postage to US is around USD 7.99 for item below USD 50 and postage to Malaysia is a flat rate of USD 29.99 regardless of the item price. I had a hard time to choose my own shade even though there are only 8 shades available on the website. My MAC shades are NC25 to NC35 depending on the product, for example my pressed powder from MAC is NC25 whereby my foundation is usually NC35.  So after a few times contemplating to choose a shade that 's going to fit me,  I chose shade 101 for myself. My item reached me 3 weeks later.

The packaging

It came in a black flimsy box and plastic bottle with a pump, thank goodness. It's convenient and hygenic. The weight isn't heavy but I have a problem with the pump. It's very hard to get the product out of the pump and I had to keep on pumping A LOT in order to get it to the back of my hand. I am not sure if I got a bad batch or not.

The Product

The product contains 32ml or 1.08 fl.oz so they are 2 ml more than any of the foundation that I came across. Usually there's always only 30 ml or lesser in a bottle so yes another thumbs up! The product is formulated in Germany and is made in USA. The foundation could last until 12 months.

The texture of the product is thick, though not thicker than my Estee Lauder Double Wear but pretty decent for people who need to wear medium to full coverage foundation. The foundation is buildable although I found out that one layer is enough to cover my redness and acne scars.

Verdict on BH Studio Pro HD Foundation

I am loving the product so far! It totally covers my imperfection and stuff but I had one big problem with this foundation- it oxidizes so badly until I look like I have a bruised face. I cant even contour my face due to this. I know I'll end up looking so red and so bruised and yes, sadly I had to order another shade, 104 and let's see how it is going to turn out on my skin.

  • Pros:

  • Inexpensive.
  • Medium to full coverage.
  • Covers all my redness and my scars.
  • Fill the pore nicely without any primer and compact powder.
  • Suitable for oily and sensitive skin.
  • I didn't break out at all.
  • No smell.
  • Creates flawless matte finish.
  • 12 Months of shelf life.

Cons:

  • Staying power (tried 8 hours, need to reapply)
  • Hard to find your true shade as they only retails online.
  • Oxidizes pretty fast, you will have to buy one or two shade lighter than your own shade.

I totally recommend this to people who suffer acne and acne scars like me. I bought this because I wanted to try a foundation that's inexpensive with a full coverage and I am very surprised with it, though not with the oxidizing formula.

Rating : 3/5

Urban Decay NAKED SKIN Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup - (An Honest Review on Acne Skin)

I am gonna review another foundation, Urban Decay NAKED SKIN Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup.

I am using shade 3.5 which is equivalent to MAC NC30, and it matches my skin tone even though my MAC Pressed Powder is NC25. The foundation retails at MYR 148 and is available at Sephora Malaysia.

The Packaging

Comes in a pretty box and a pretty bottle which I really love, with a pump (plus point)!

The Product

This foundation contains 30ml and there are 18 shades available. One thing that turns me off is the shelf live of 6 month. Usually a foundation can last longer than that and I could find equally or a better foundation than Urban Decay NAKED SKIN with longer shelf life for the same price so IMO, I guess this is one of the major flaw.

The texture of the product is very runny, watery and light.  This foundation is also a vegan product.

Verdict

Honestly, this foundation is not what I am looking for. I'm regretting this purchase because it's not suitable for people who seek for medium to high coverage like me. Yes, I know it's buildable but the consistency of the product is very light - lives up to its name, Weightless. I would waste 50% of the product to get the coverage I want and it does not even cover my blemishes as good as my Etude House BB Cream even after a few pump. The staying power and longevity is also a disappointment.

This product is really a good quality foundation but I think it is suitable for people with less or no skin problem. I've tried it on my sister who has no skin problem and it does look flawless on her. It just made my face looks radiant with blemishes on lol.

I found the texture is similar to Loreal Lucent Magique Light-Infusing Foundation so people who would want to get a similar type of foundation with a lower budget could get the Lucent Magic instead of this one. Trust me, you could save like 100 bucks on something better.

So for me, I would use this foundation if I want my face to go naked (HAHA) - makeup with no makeup on look.

This is my first Urban Decay product and I don't like it at all. I know their Naked eyeshadow palette series are awesome but not this foundation. I would not recommend this product for people with oily and sensitive skin like me.

Will I repurchase Urban Decay NAKED SKIN Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup? LOL. Nope nope nope.
Looks pretty scary with flash on T_T

MAKEUP REVOLUTION I HEART MAKEUP SELFIE REVIEW AND SWATCHES

Hello it's been a while since the last review update! I had a baby and in my postnatal confinement now that's why.

I have restocked a lot of makeup in March from BH Cosmetics, Makeup Revolution, MUA Cosmetics and MAC because I want to start becoming a makeup artist (wish me luck :D). I will be reviewing my haul so let me start with Makeup Revolution : I heart Makeup #Selfie palette.

Makeup haul for March baby!
I heart makeup Selfie packaging is pretty fancy with pink holograhic font of #selfie. Previously it was black background with white font. It comes in a box and free eye primer! The size of the palette is quite okay as it fits in my makeup bag. The price of the palette is MYR 39.

This palette of ten is more to natural shade but shimmery, only two shades are matte which are Check Us In and Choc Fix. It comes with double ended eyeshadow brush. So below are the swatches of the palette, with primer and without primer. I am using my finger to swatch instead of its brush.

The eyeshadows are pretty much pigmented for a drugstore price like palette which is a plus point. They are comparable to Sephora's Holiday eyeshadow palette. The swatches with a primer stays on much more longer and harder to wash as compared to the swatches without a primer. The first two colors can function well as highlighters.

This palette is suitable for day and night look.

The free eyeprimer that comes with SELFIE palette

Verdict? I am loving the palette already because of the awesome packaging and pigmented eyeshadows. Plus, I got this palette for free since I spent more that MYR100 on happy hour! :D

DERMAROLLER FOR ACNE SCARRED SKIN : An Honest Review WEEK 5

Week 3:

Week 5:

Exactly 2 days after dermarolling. Under white light.

I waited for two weeks before started dermarolling.
Ignore the red circles, those are new pimples from Garnier Pinkish Sakura Essence (still healing).
The rectangle area are deep scars which I think got deeper and the most prominent area on this side of my cheek, >_<

Overall, it got a bit better than it used to be and I am planning to roll again exactly a month from now.

P/S : Please tell me what you think or your own experience :D

MEIKO COLLECTION : MC COVER FACE (MCCT) REVIEW ON ACNE SKIN

Today I will be reviewing a cream foundation originated from Japan, MEIKO COLLECTION : MC COVER FACE (MCCT). I have been eyeing this foundation for a long time because I wanted to buy a cream foundation. Currently I am using the liquid Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation.

Actually, products from Meiko Corporation are the raves since a few years back and previously I have tried and liked their Naturactor collection. I've heard that this MEIKO COLLECTION : MC COVER FACE (MCCT) is the new improved formula of their Naturactor foudation, which claims that they have added Jojoba oil and Vitamin C to the formula. It also says that this foundation is suitable for acne-prone skin, unlike the Naturactor foundation.

The Packaging

I bought the original foundation from an Instagram Shop for MYR 65 including postage (the market price is MYR 89).

It comes in a small box and a glass jar which makes it easier for me to bring it everywhere in my makeup purse. The packaging is very simple, classy and you wont really stain the jar with your fingers unlike the Naturactor foundation jar (which comes in white jar).

The product

I am not sure how many grams does it contain in a jar and I couldn't get any information from their official website as well. I have bought the shade number 141 and there are 8 shades available for sale. The texture of the product is very thick and creamy, so application with a sponge is much recommended than using a foundation brush. It also does not have any scent.

The Verdict

Currently my skin is full of redness and a few active pimples due to Garnier Sakura White Sleeping Essence. You can see below pictures T_T. I have stopped using the essence for a while and my skin condition improves a lot. I'm so sad because I really like the essence but it doesn't suit my skin :(

While trying, it turns out that shade 141 is one or two times lighter than my skin tone. I should have bought a darker shade for myself but oh well~

I have tried applying the foundation with a dry and a wet sponge. IMO, application with a wet sponge blended really well as per compared to using a dry sponge. It does make your makeup look natural and cast less white shade, which is a good thing since you don't want to look like a ghost.

The coverage is medium to heavy, depends on how many layers of application. However it does not cover my skin's imperfections as much as a liquid foundation (Estee Lauder Double Wear does it better than this foundation). One thing that I really love is it does not feel heavy at all, unlike when using a liquid foundation.

Pardon the redness X(

With one layer of foundation, no powder.
This foundation does not break me out (I accidentally slept with this foundation on and I shouldn't do that T_T) but it also does not give me the coverage that I really wanted. However, I think people with less skin problem will love this foundation. I have a lot of scars from previous plus current acne and my skin is still healing so I am kinda not satisfied with the coverage it provides. It might have been better with a correct shade but since I'm not really sure about it, I hesitate to spend more on buying the correct shade. However, I will continue to use it if I'm in a haste since the application is much easier than using a liquid foundation.

ETUDE HOUSE : NEW 10 IN 1 WONDER PORE FRESHNER REVIEW - ACNE SKIN

Updates on Etude House's new 10 in 1 Wonder Pore Freshner!

You guys can view my previous 7 in 1 Wonder Pore Freshner review and four ways to use the toner here.

Last week, I went to Etude House to restock my Wonder Pore Freshner toner since they were doing buy one free one sale at that time. It was the best time to buy since the normal price is really expensive and I didn't have much money to spend in the first place. However I was taken aback by the increasing price of the toner but I didn't realize that they have changed it to the new 10 in 1 formula. ( Previous price was around MYR 80++ and the new price is MYR 99.90 ) Since they were having a sale, I just bought it and get my AC Clinic Gel Lotion (Price : MYR 59.90) as the free gift. Still a good bargain right?

So what's new in this Wonder Pore Freshner? Here's what I though.

The Packaging

It came in a big box with another free big box of daily cotton pad. Similar bottle to the old one of 500 ml with a pump.

10 in 1 vs 7 in 1

The Product

So they have added 3 new functions to the product :

Remove dead skin cells - A great addition to the toner since your skin will be a lot fresher and it kinda helps on regenerating new skin cells.

Cleanse pore insides with cooling effect - A good thing for me too, since I don't feel any stinging sensation anymore while using the toner unlike the old 7 in 1 formula.

Complete smooth glass-like texture - My skin feels so smooth after using the toner but I am not sure what is the long term effect though. :D

I also think that the alcohol scent in the new formula is more subtle than the old one so another plus point for me.

So overall I still think that that this product is amazing with added benefits and will recommend it to people with sensitive skin. :)

GARNIER SAKURA WHITE PINKISH RADIANCE SLEEPING ESSENCE REVIEW - ACNE SKIN

I'll be reviewing this product which has a super long name : GARNIER SAKURA WHITE PINKISH RADIANCE SLEEPING ESSENCE since I have bought it a week ago.

I bought this product around MYR 22+ from a local supermarket and yeah it was another prompt purchase without any research done by me. I know I should have not done that considering that I have a very sensitive skin. I was confused whether to buy Garnier light night cream or this but I have to say, I was kinda interested with that 'Sakura' extract. I haven't seen or tried any beauty product that comes with Sakura extract so..... here it is.

GARNIER SAKURA WHITE PINKISH RADIANCE SLEEPING ESSENCE. LOL

The Packaging

It comes in a small pink box and a glass jar with no spatula so it's a bit unhygienic for me to use since I have to use my finger to get the cream out from the jar.

The Product

The product contains sterilized alcohol but I think it's paraben-free. The consistency of the product is creamy and it smells like roses (which I don't really fancy).  It does not make your skin oily or feel heavy once you put it on so it's a plus thing for people with super oily skin like me.

The ingredients

Verdict

This product breaks me out in a week!!!! X(

I can count the new pimple spots on my face however they did become okay after a while. It might be because I am using AC clinic lotion by Etude House at the same time.. maybe, I really have no idea. One thing that I love is, my skin feels fresh whenever I wake up in the morning. But I guess i'll continue to use this product for a month so that I can see the difference it will bring to my sensitive skin.

The Pros

  1. Inexpensive and you can find it literally almost everywhere.
  2. Does not make my face oily.
  3. Creamy texture of the product.
The Cons
  1. Breaks me out.
  2. The reeking smell of perfume.
  3. No spatula provided.

Updates: I have stopped using the essence because my skin can't stand it anymore. I see some improvement on my skin since I stopped using it. My skin is still healing, and Ac Clinic by Etude House really helps a lot. :(

DERMAROLLER FOR ACNE SCARRED SKIN : An Honest Review WEEK 3

Updates for week 3!

I've learnt that I should not use the dermaroller on weekly basis since my skin is still healing from the previous rolling and I gotta make sure that the holes punctured wont become permanent.. so here it is.

The picture of my skin for week 3 :

It looks quite punctured, right?

Honestly I've been contemplating whether to stop or to continue this derma rolling activity. That's because sometimes when I look into a mirror, I feel like my skin become a bit 'hole-y' but sometimes it feels okay. But as you guys can see, the redness has somewhat disappeared but I cannot say for sure that my box scars are disappearing as well. I guess I'll just have to wait for another 2 or 3 weeks to do the next derma rolling session. It might be completely healed by then.

I've added 2 skincare routine for myself to help regenerating new skin cells. I'll be reviewing both of them later.

Daily moisturizer :
AC CLINIC DAILY GEL LOTION

Sleeping essence :
